So I read this post on Slashdot entitled: Riot Control Ray-Gun for Use in Iraq and I've really got nothing more to add. I'm just going to quote the bit from the Slashdot headline:
It was recently tested on people playing the part of rioters at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico where they asked the subjects to remove glass and contact lenses to protect their eyes. Hopefully real rioters will get the same courtesy. Police and the Marines are working on portable versions.
What more can you add to that? Innocent bystanders; cancer worries; pacemakers; eyes; melanoma. Whee. People with metal implants (from broken bones or whatever) will likely suffer severely. Or maybe I'm just a fear monger and this pain ray will just help make the world a better place. And surely one will never fall into the wrong hands.
