After searching for a few hours before for a decent site with free stock photos; you'd think I'd be smart enough to be able to find it again - but no. So I searched for a couple of hours today and found the one I had found previously - so without further ado; please enjoy http://www.sxc.hu/. Maybe next time; I'll remember that I posted it here; and won't have to look for it. There is some professional quality stuff on this site as well; it's mostly quite good. Key words: Free; Royalty free; stock; photos. I also found a page with a boatload of links purporting to be similar pages (I did not visit any of them as I had foundthe one I was looking for); and that page of links is http://www.pixel2life.com/forums/index.php?s=80a1c09dd2b7fbd7e779fa70d3743d35&showtopic=596&st=0entry36643

My brother got married on Fridy; it was a great day and the whole thing was quite beautiful. I mentioned a few times that it reminded me of all the best parts of our wedding; and that's a very good thing in my mind. Best wishes to the happy couple!

Yesterday we went bicycling in Shubie Park over in Dartmouth; today we did 6km (6 in; 6 out) of the BLT Rails to Trails. Easy to find the starting point just past Bayer's Lake (across from the Coca-Cola plant; follow the link for better directions). Nice for the family being flat (used to be train tracks after all) and very low grades. Lots of wilderness. I am looking forward to doing more of this trail. Posted speed limit of 20km/h.

Just a quick 'Thanks' to the gentleman at Sportwheels 209 Sackville Drive; we got a great used bike there for Lori for $99 plus tax. They were helpful and not at all pushy. We told them we wanted a used bike; they helped us pick one; fixed the brakes on the spot. They also told us that if we weren't happy, we could bring it back any time in the next 30 days for an exchange equalling the purchase price of the bicycle. We'll almost certainly be going back for our next purchase.

Did he just say, "Recycled Squirrel Decanter"? Why yes I did; and here's the link with photos: Recycled Squirrel Decanter. Can you imagine this as a flask? Pretty creepy.
+ 1 - 0 | § ¶Digital paper is here!
Paper-thin digital clock from Citizen. Geek-out with me on the details:
I love the bit about how the power is used only to 'create' the image; once the image is produced; it takes no energy to continue displaying it. This would be great for billboards; still photos; what about windows that go from tinted to dark at the flip of a switch; big panels on the wall. Lots of fun things. Or a tiny, paper-thin clock. Have to start somewhere I guess.- Exceptional Readability - roughly twice the contrast of a reflective LCD, EPD’s can be easily read in bright sunlight or in dimly lit environments and at virtually any angle. - Low Power Consumption - In addition to the fact that no backlighting is required, the display also has an inherently stable “memory effect” which requires no power to maintain an image - both of which drastically increase the battery life. The result is 1/100 the power consumption of traditional display options. - Versatile, Flexible Form - E Ink Imaging Film allows product designers to create entirely new designs that were never possible before. This thin, flexible display can be used to create curved, eye-catching shapes. - These benefits allow the clock to be installed in locations that would otherwise be difficult. Especially in the case of using Battery, this Clock is “Mobile”.

See?!?! See?!?! I told you - StuffOnMyCats.com is just another in this thread. This is reality TV for the web in its most abbreviated form. I'm curious (and frightened) as to where this ends.

So we bought a new car. It's not a hybrid as I had hoped our next car would be. No government rebates for us here in Nova Scotia. Regardless; we'll burn much less fuel in our new Honda Civic; especially when compared to our previous car, a 1995 Mecury Mystique. The Mystique had a rating of 22 mpg (as a brand new car); the Honda Civic has a rating of 32 city/38 highway (still in mpg). So now that we have a new car; perhaps I will get my license. Those of you who know me are well aware that I am a mooch and too lazy to drive myself around. Those of you who don't know me are probably thinking I am 16 o r17 - sadly; I am 33 years old without a license. So now I have to go throught the graduated licensing - that should be fun. I plan on writing my learner's permit exam early next week. You should think twice before going near highways that I may be travelling on. Also of note is that fact that getting insurance was a huge block to me getting my license - I got a quote once of $2400 or so. As of the other day; my insurance will cost me exactly nothing extra (on top of Lori's $1340). So by getting my license, I am effectively 'saving' and getting insured for free. (more)

+ 1 - 0 | § ¶Fun with Excel and VBA - how to monitor multiple web pages and send netsend popups from Excel
So I needed to conglomerate the contents of 9 web pages into one. The web pages were dynamic and a value on them had to be monitored. How to do that? First I just tried straight HTML and frames. It worked but it was ugly. So the I created 9 web queries in Excel. This got the data in one page and nice tables scraped from the web pages - but the data I wanted was buried in the middle of the table. So copy that from there to page two of the spreadsheet; make it a dynamic link and now all the data is in one nice table. Very good. But now I still have to watch that web page. How do I make excel alert me? Hm - can I use popups. Yes! But not so fast; how? A quick web search... (more)
