The story on BBC news titled Can the planet feed us? is the sort of thing that keeps me up nights. How long before our consumer driven habits push the planet past the point of return? The next wars will be fought over clean water. Bravo to the Pivot crowd. I am running the new beta of Pivot. I highly recommend it. Very light (no SQL; php only!), easy to use, instantly functional. I have been planning on making a web page along the lines of "free stuff that doesn't suck"; Pivot would certainly be on it. Along with Gallery for a free web based photo manager, http://azureus.sourceforge.net/ for cross-platform java based bit-torrents, and others that I am somehow forgetting right now but will add to the list as I think of them.
