About

This little weblog serves two purposes: First, I want to have a live environment to test the new version of Pivot, as it progresses. Secondly, I needed a place to log about stuff i don't want to bother the readers of my regular weblog with, like news about PHP, browsers, CSS, weblog-tools, webdesign and the like.

+ 2 - 0 | § Wired News: Windows to Power ATMs in 2005

Windows to Power ATMs in 2005 is not as funny as you might think. While I laugh at Microsoft products on a daily basis and have lots of 'issues' with Windows, their Mobile 2003 OS that is on the Axim is very stable and quite snappy. Besides, I really hate the way most bank machines look anyways.

Don't think this means I won't laugh like a banshee, take pictures, and tell everyone I know about the first time I see an ATM with a big BSOD.

+ 0 - 1 | § Lindows heads North

Lindows OS is headed to Nova Scotia and while I like Linux coming into Canada; there are better distributions than Lindows. Lindows is great in that they are promoting linux. They have some security issues in my mind (running stuff as root that they shouldn't) and charge per application. I would think that Suse, Debian, or Mandrake might be better options. Good luck to them, in any case.

+ 0 - 1 | § Body Art

Hanging Corpse Admired as Sculpture on Campus is a true testament to the beauty of the human body. It's pretty, but is it art? Don't get me started.

+ 1 - 0 | § Every Playboy Centerfold, The Decades

4 decades of Playboy isn't what you might think. You do get all of the pictures from four decades of Playboy, but you only get four images. Neat idea.

+ 0 - 1 | § Rich packages seen boosting chance of Hancock departures

Rich packages seen boosting chance of Hancock departures - they are talking about huge dollar value packages in this article. Wow.

+ 1 - 0 | § More on the Dell Axim pricing error

The Dell pricing error I mentioned previously looks like one of the great bargains of the year. Or so I am telling myself, as I have ordered one of these PocketPC's. The price is supposed to be good until the end of the month. That price is $329 plus shipping and taxes which means a to-the-door price of $407.10. The item they are shipping is the 400Mhz 64MB version with internal Wi-Fi, and if you go to the Dell website you will see this item sells for $549 before taxes and shipping. The Dell sales rep I was speaking with was well aware this is a pricing error as he said they are selling at $70 below cost, and many of the sales reps have bought at least one. Several have shipped already (some were ordered as early as November 4th). The thread I mentioned in the previous post has lots of information now, it is over 23 pages long.

+ 0 - 1 | § Dell Axim X3i for $329

Dell Axim X3i for $329">Dell hugely discounted Handheld PC is not to be missed! Check out the link for all the details; this handheld has built-in wifi and is priced at $329 rather than $529 until the end of the month. If you are at all interested in getting a handheld, this is a great deal!

+ 1 - 0 | § Flu Shot

I got the flu shot today, and so should you, so everyone stays nice and healthy. I still think it is a government conspiracy to infect us all with grey goo, but they already 'have' me so it is too late.

+ 1 - 1 | § TheStar.com - Manulife profit leaps 21%, helped by rising markets

Manulife profit leaps 21% is certainly newsworthy. That is a nice increase in profits!

+ 1 - 0 | § Manulife Financial gives $110,000 toward Hurricane Juan recovery - globeinvestor.com

Manulife Financial gives $110,000 toward Hurricane Juan recovery. I'm not going to make any comments on this. I'm sure it was very much appreciated by the city. Thanks to whoever pointed this out to me ("Ben and J. Lo"), I had missed it.
